Jeff Reetz Says It Is Time For Real Leadership on Jobs & Health Care
Hospital Cuts Demonstrate John Yarmuth’s Lack Of Focus

Jeff Reetz, candidate for Kentucky’s 3rd District, says the time has come to send a real leader to Washington to refocus attention on the priorities of the residents of Louisville and their families.

“For more than a year, Democrats in Congress and the Obama Administration have been telling America they were focused on creating jobs. Or was that health care? The fact that Jewish Hospital was forced to cut one-sixth of their workforce due to a rising number of uninsured shows that the families of the 3rd District deserve a leader with real solutions and a real commitment to getting the job done,” Reetz said.

The Courier-Journal reported that Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare is being forced to eliminate 500 jobs - the first large-scale job reductions in a Louisville hospital system since recession.

According to a survey conducted for the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky, one-third of Kentuckians – a percentage which only will increase if Washington continues in its failure to put Americans back to work, are without health care. Evidently John Yarmuth cannot “walk and chew gum” - or address health care and jobs – at the same time.

U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, D-3rd District, said he believes they reflect larger problems in health care.

’While we should all be concerned about those who have lost jobs,’ he said, we also have to focus on the fact that these cuts were made because thousands more of our friends and neighbors aren’t getting the health care they need.’” (“Jewish Cuts Jobs, Citing Declining Patient Load, Rise In Uninsured,” Courier-Journal, March 10, 2010)

Mr. Yarmuth, our friends and neighbors in the 3rd District are “concerned” about health care AND job creation. “Like many families in Louisville, as an entrepreneur and a father, I have had to juggle several priorities simultaneously. When I am elected to represent the interests of the 3rd District, I will bring the experience, the real leadership skills and the ability to focus on bringing people together to get real results,” pledged Reetz.
